- Roger Clemens should retire or play the whole season. His recent trend of starting the season in late May or early June after deciding both whether to play and for which team makes a mockery of the game and is insulting to other major league players. Some clearly think that his performance over the course of his career has earned him the right to behave this way; I disagree.
- Something needs to be done to make the All-Star vote actually elect All-Stars. In recent years, playing for a team from New York was practically the sole necessary qualification for being considered an All-Star. How selections for the All-Star game should be made requires careful thought – it already has a rocky and contentious history. For starters, I propose explicitly barring any player not named David Wright or Jose Reyes who plays for a New York team…

I just hate how everybody in baseball is using the phrase “lights out” this season. That’s annoying.
As for Roger Clemons – I can’t say I follow that closely (no player that good will ever play in Pittsburgh) but isn’t it really about how his body wouldn’t hold up for a full season?
You might be right but I never got that impression. Last year, he hadn’t made the decision prior to the start of the season and a stipulation in the labor contract prevented people who weren’t signed at the start of the season from playing before the end of May. This year, it just seemed like he delayed the decision until the end of April and after deciding to play, he needed a few weeks to get going. Interestingly, it looks like he’ll wind up starting against the Pirates this Saturday. Hopefully, he’ll get bombed by the Pirates like last time he pitched against them at PNC Park.
Hey, at least David Wright and Jose Reyes are good. How is Robinson Cano leading the AL at 2nd base!?
Also, I can’t stop watching this stupid AA braves coach:
I love how he uses the resin bag as a grenade!
