Buying and Developing Film

With the arrival of my Pentax K1000 imminent, I’ve been wondering about what film to get, where to get it, and how to get it developed. Do any of you order film online? I’d like to shoot some slide film sometime, but I’ve heard that getting slide film developed can be difficult these days. If you shoot slide film, where do you get it developed and how much does it cost?

Order stuff from B&H. They’re really solid. You can get stuff developed at a decent photoshop (there was on in Harvard Sq somehwere) or send it away to somewhere like Mystic Color Lab.

Is the place in Harvard Square called Ferranti-Dege? I did a Google Maps search for “photo” in “Cambridge, MA” and that place came up. They develop slide film and pretty much everything else. They’ll even push or pull your film to a different speed (for a price, of course). They’ll also scan your film at 3072×2048 for $12.95/roll of slide film. All the online places, if they develop slide film at all, won’t scan it. I’ll have to check this place out.
