This time I used the LaserJet 6P/6MP Postscript driver instead of the Gutenprint driver. The postscript driver seems to produce results that are more faithful to the document’s appearance on the screen. Anyway, I’m happy with the new setup.

On the printer config page on the web interface, I was able to specify a list of users who are allowed to print to the printer. I discovered this as I was setting up the printer on our other machines and the test pages I sent to the printer were just disappearing. When I added the appropriate user names to the list of allowed users, the test pages went through. Cool.
